K-2 STEM Spring Recess Camp

Animal Mysteries and Adventures at the Prospect Park Zoo

For Grades K, 1 and 2

Participate in Prospect Park Zoo’s Animal Mysteries and Adventures Camp and become a “Zoo Detective” by learning all about zoo animals and solving unique mysteries based on animal adventures. As zoo detectives, campers will collect evidence and solve animal puzzles based on observations and their own scientific questions, as well as collaborate with their fellow young detectives. This week-long camp includes exhibit visits, live animal encounters, group activities, crafts, and hands-on scientific demonstrations, experiments, and more!

Who can apply?

New York City public school students in grades K, 1 and 2 are eligible to apply.

Dates: Monday, April 25, 2016 to Friday, April 29, 2016*

Time: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

*Campers must attend all five days of camp.

Part 2:

a.  Click here to download and print all required application forms.

b.  Complete the Parent/Guardian consent and DOE Media Release forms.

c.  Ask your child’s teacher to sign the Letter of Support.

d.  Complete all WCS-Prospect Park Zoo application forms – health record, camper release, and photo release forms.

e.  Submit all required forms by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 by email to STEMMattersNYC@schools.nyc.gov or mail to:

Camper applications are due by 5:00 PM, Friday, March 11, 2016. All supporting documents (parent consent form, teacher letter of support, media release, and WCS-Prospect Park Zoo Forms) are due by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2016.  Acceptance into the camp is based on a lottery. Notification of acceptance will be sent by Tuesday, March 22, 2016 via email from STEMMattersNYC@schools.nyc.gov (please check your spam/junk mail folders). If your camper is accepted, you will be required to pay a non-refundable $20 registration fee to cover the entire cost of camp, due by Friday, April 8, 2016. Campers who do not submit their registration fee will forfeit their seat.
