Message from the Principal

Dear Families of PS 188Q,

Our school’s vision is “At Public School 188Q, our school community will create a program of instruction that helps develop students into well-rounded, life-long learners, and future citizens of a more just, equitable, and safe world.” With this vision at the forefront of everything we do, our goal is to not only provide our students with rigorous academic instruction, but we also want to equip our students with the “soft skills” they need that will help them be future leaders in our world. Our students are not only learning about how to analyze a text and solve multistep problems, but they are also learning to be empathic listeners and develop skills needed to deal with conflict in a productive manner. As we continue to navigate the changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic in our school, our focus is to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all students, whether they are academic or socio-emotional.

In addition, I look forward to working with the student council, teachers, parents, and community members to provide activities that encourage all our students from PreK to 5th grade to develop their civic responsibility that promotes equity and social justice for all our community members. I also look forward to planning activities that highlight the amazing work our students do daily.

Please feel free to reach out to me at (929)-600-5683 or at CFiguer4@schools.nyc.gov. I hope you also will join me during one of my virtual Coffee and Conversations.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Christina Figueroa
